Riverdale Schools Earn ENERGY STAR® Certification

Riverdale School District Earns ENERGY STAR Certification; Outperforms Similar U.S. Buildings on Measure of Energy Efficiency November 20, 2017 Riverdale School District has announced that both the Riverdale Elementary and the Riverdale Junior/Senior High School buildings have earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ENERGY STAR® certification for superior energy performance. “Riverdale School District continues to demonstrate true environmental leadership by reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions that are proven to contribute to climate change,” stated Jean Lupinacci, ENERGY STAR Director for Commercial & Industrial Buildings. “Today, 45 percent of U.S. emissions are attributable to commercial and industrial buildings, which is why improving energy efficiency is so critical for our future.” ENERGY STAR certified buildings and plants are verified to perform in the top 25 percent of buildings nationwide, based on weather-normalized source energy use that takes into account occupancy, hours of operation, and other key metrics. The Riverdale Junior/Senior High building earned a score of 87 and the Riverdale Elementary scored 95.  ENERGY STAR is the only energy efficiency certification in the United States that is based on actual, verified energy performance. “We’re honored to earn the ENERGY STAR for superior energy performance at the Riverdale School District and appreciate the efforts of everyone who has been involved in its efficient operation,” said District administrator, Bryce Bird. “Saving energy is just one of the ways we show our community we care about stretching local tax dollars, and that we’re committed to doing our part to protect the environment and public health, both today and for future generations.” Bird credits this success to recent improvements to both buildings including upgrading to state of the art heating and cooling systems, adding insulation to roofs, window replacements and other improvements to creating an energy efficient building envelop. On average, ENERGY STAR certified buildings and plants use 35 percent less energy, cause 35 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions, and are less expensive to operate than their peers—all without sacrifices in performance or comfort. To date, tens of thousands of buildings and plants across all fifty states have earned the ENERGY STAR. DPI Announces: Riverdale Elementary and High School Exceeding Expectations

Riverdale Elementary and High School Exceeding Expectations Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) School Report Cards Release The Riverdale School District is pleased to announce that Riverdale Elementary and High Schools are exceeding expectations and the Riverdale Junior High School is meeting expectations, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.     The Riverdale School District uses a number of means to measure our students’ academic and social progress.  One source we use to reflect on our strengths and areas for improvement is the School Report Card.  The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) generates a School Report Card and District Report Card for every publicly funded school and district in the state.   “We are happy with the results and will continue to strive to improve student achievement.” says Riverdale School District Superintendent, Bryce Bird.  “The efforts of the staff at Riverdale Schools and their commitment to being innovative and collaborative drives forward the great things that are happening here.”   The Report Cards are intended to help schools and districts use performance data to target improvement efforts that ensure students are ready for their next educational step – including the next grade level, graduation, college, and careers.  As DPI stresses, these report cards are just one source of information about our school.   Students in the Riverdale School District continue to benefit from being a part of a supportive community.  The staff and administration are grateful for the ongoing support.
